Hersister Esther was wife of Dr. Robert Finley of the PresbyterianChurch. Their mother was shot by a British soldier, through a window,and died of the wound. It is said that Sarah was in her mother's armswhen she was shot. Caldwell was of Elizabeth, N.J. At a later Period,he was himself shot by a sentinel, after the latter had been relievedform his post, either through drunken spite or treachery.
