CORRESPONDENCE: Date: Mon, 11 Dec 2006 16:20:06 -0800; From: "SusanS." susan@bontekoe.net; Subject: Schuurman family; To:vrede@bak.rr.com I just came across your Vredenburgh genealogy(descending from Jacobus Schuurman and Antje Terhune). I thinkthat Antje's parents have been misidentified and instead are JanTerhune and his 2nd wife Margrietje van Sicklen. Antje's sister,Eva, is said to have married the Rev. Theodorus JacobusFrelinghuysen, close friend of Jacobus Schuurman. Margrietje vanSicklen was the daughter of Ferdinandus van Sicklen and EvaAntoinse Jansen. Eva and Antje both named sons Ferdinandus. (Evawas probably named after her grandmother Eva Antoinse Jansen). This Eva was the daughter of Anthony "The Turk" Jansen van Saleeand Grietje Reyniers, very colorful figures in early NY. (Anthonywas said to have been the son of the pirate Jan Jansen vanHaarlem. The problem is that Eva and Antje Terhune's baptisms havenot been found. They were most likely baptized in Flatbush between1692 and 1700. Susan
