OBITUARY: From, "The Bellaire Record" 1908. Alfred Fradenburg was born in
Switzerland
County, Indiana, March 19, 1826 and died at his home on North Bridge street,
Bellaire, Michigan, September 17, 1908, age 82. He was married to Miss. Hester
Kirkham July 27, 1849. To them were born eight children, only one whom
survives, Mrs.
Pearl Allen of this place. On the 17th day of March, 1862, he enlisted in the
Thirteenth Indiana Light Artillery. After serving ten months he received an
honorable
discharge on account of disease contracted while in the service. Burial in
Lakeview
Cemetery.

couple. He attended the Samis and Crandell schools in
Chase Township. He left school in the 8th grade and he
then attended Barber School in Detroit, MI at age 16 or
17. While in Detroit he lived with his Aunt Margaret
Linderman-Kierstead. After leaving the Detroit area he
went to New Carlisle, St. Joseph, IN to start a Barber
Shop of his own that failed. When living at New
Carlisle he made his home with his Uncle Seymour and
Aunt Nina Smith-Fradenburgh and cousin Raymond
Fradenburgh.
